The art gallery with paintings by Olle Krantz, the creator of Tempelgården
The Temple was originally built by order of a lady named Katherine Tingley for the Theosophical World Peace Congress that was held here in Visingsö in 1913. The Temple was used as an art gallery for the delegates. In those days art by among others Carl Larsson, Anders Zorn, and Carl Milles was exhibited here, today you will find some 60 original paintings by Olle Krantz, the creator of Tempelgården.
Olle has painted many of them to tell us something, and the staff here at Tempelgården are happy to tell you more about Olle’s life and his artistry during our guided tours. Olle was a person with a vision that he made come true, and now we can all share it.
Perhaps you want to interpret the paintings yourself, perhaps you want to hear the story behind them – it’s for you to decide!
We will also tell you about the days of the theosophists here in Visingsö and their leader in those days, the fantastic madam Tingley.
We’ll tell you more when you visit us, we want you to have something to look forward to.
We have guided tours during the summer at 12:00 and 14:30 p.m.
If you want to book time to see the exhibition or for a guided tour outside of our regular hours,
please contact us and we promise to do what we can to help you!
In connection with the art gallery there is a small shop where we have picture postcards and lithographies of Olle’s paintings and some other things unique to Tempelgården.
